Samantha Hobson |
( Australia )
|

|
Samantha Hobson is a member of the Lockhart River Art Gang, a group of young Aboriginal artists from the east coast of Cape York in the far north of Queensland.
Samantha’s free flowing canvases sit outside of the accepted traditions of Aboriginal iconography, illuminating the beauty of her natural surroundings and the complexities of human relationships in the remote community to which she belongs.
At twenty-seven years of age, Samantha has held eight solo exhibitions of her work in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne and has participated in group exhibitions all over Australia, as well as in Austria, France, Italy, South Korea, Singapore, the United States and the United Kingdom. Her works are held in the collections of the National Gallery of Australia, the National Gallery of Victoria, the Queensland Art Gallery, the University of Queensland Art Museum, the Columbus State University, Georgia, USA and the Kluge-Ruhe Aboriginal Art Collection of the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, Virginia, USA.
