The October Gallery is delighted to announce the support of Arts Council England to carry out a capital development project. The grant of £75,000 will be used to renovate the Gallery's space from August to September 2006. 'Studio E Architects' have been commissioned for the project, which will allow improved accessibility to the galleries and a redesign of the exhibition space and entrance.

The building, on Old Gloucester Street in Bloomsbury, is a converted Victorian schoolhouse that since 1979, has housed the October Gallery theatre, clubroom, café and exhibition spaces. It is hoped that the project will improve the October Gallery experience for visitors, artists and staff alike, by creating an accessible, innovative and dynamic cultural space for the 21st century.
'We are pleased to be investing in the redesign of the October Gallery's space to improve access and sustainability. The gallery is a vibrant resource in London's cultural sector which offers a unique experience and is able to reflect and cater for the diversity of the capital's population. This project will help the October Gallery to continue and build upon its reputation for artistic excellence, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact of the development as it grows from strength to strength.'
